Understanding Session Security in Mothernode: IP-Based Login Protection
As part of Mothernode’s built-in security framework, each user is allowed one active login session at a time, which is tracked by their IP address. This system is designed to help protect your account from unauthorized access.
Why You Might Be Logged Out
When you’re logged into Mothernode, your session is tied to the IP address assigned by your internet provider or network. If your IP address changes during your session, Mothernode will automatically log you out for security reasons.
This behavior is intended to protect you. It may indicate that:
-
Someone else is logging in with your account from another location or device.
-
Your IP address has changed due to your network settings, not an external login attempt.
Common Causes of Frequent Logouts
If you’re being logged out repeatedly without attempting to log in from another device, your network may be assigning short IP leases, which can change often. This is common in:
-
Hotels
-
Airports
-
Coffee shops
-
Co-working spaces
-
Public Wi-Fi hotspots
These environments regularly recycle IP addresses, which can interfere with session stability in Mothernode.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you’re experiencing frequent session interruptions, try the following:
1. Check for Duplicate Logins
-
Confirm no one else is using your account credentials.
-
If unsure, change your Mothernode password immediately and do not share it.
2. Use a More Stable Internet Connection
-
Connect via a private or home Wi-Fi network where IP addresses are more stable.
-
Avoid using public or shared networks when working in Mothernode.
3. Enable a Static IP (Advanced Users)
If you have access to your router or network settings:
-
Assign your device a static IP address to prevent it from changing.
-
Alternatively, extend the DHCP lease time to reduce IP changes.
4. Use a Personal Mobile Hotspot
-
If no stable Wi-Fi is available, consider tethering to your mobile device for a consistent connection.
5. Restart Your Modem or Router
-
In rare cases, a reboot of your local network hardware can assign a more stable IP.
